Woodrow Wilson High School

A Concave Skylight.

Linel_Divider

The scope of this project was to create an enclosure for this historic 1930's era high school which would become the new entrance/atrium. The skylight posed a couple challenges as it was designed as a concave skylight with concentric circles and rafters radiating outward. The center most circle contains a gutter system that connects to a gutter in a support leg thus draining all water to the ground. The loads exerted by the system are handled at the corners by custom designed pads which absorb the natural expansion of the building/skylight system but also absorb any seismic loads as needed.
