The shape of the Corvette Museum's Skydome is a truncated cone or a Frustum. Linel's scope included Design Assist, engineering, fabrication and installation of this project. Since the shape of the museum is conical, each layer of skylights, as the building rises, has a different radius that is smaller and tighter than the previous layer. There are a total of 11 "floors" or layers of framing which at the highest point is 128 ft., and 9 "floors" or layers at the lowest. The height difference resulted in an elliptical skylight that encompassed the entire roof. Linel's SG1000 Glass Skylight System was used as it allowed glazing of the bright yellow insulated panels that make up the "walls" of the museum as well as a seamless transition to the insulated glass units in the skylight above. Linel was excited to be part of this project.
